Rainwriters’ Blog

About

Organized in 1993, The Rainwriters are a diverse group of committed writers who meet twice a month to provide friendly, but thorough critiques of works in progress. Each member’s writing is distributed to the others and reviewed in advance. Meeting time is dedicated to sharing thoughts and ideas about other members’ works. A common treasury, developed by contributions at each meeting, is used to promote the books of all members.

The Rainwriters live on the west coast of Canada where the windshield wipers are often needed when driving to and from meetings.

Good idea, Ed, but I can’t figure out how to create a new blog. Maybe we just use the Comment Form?

For some writers story comes first; as the telling progresses, descriptions emerge. For other writers a physical, sensory detail is the starting point. Still other, particularly poets, find within the words themselves–the sounds and rhythms and shapes–the route to description. The order in which these processes occur is not important. What is important is that somewhere along the way we give full attention to each of these matters: eye, word and story.

Doing this 9 am 28 Feb 09. I went to website then “blog” then “about”.
In order to succeed, I believe, we will all have to learn to use the internet more. But it’s a steep learning curve. Eg, does anyone in our crew have expertise with PowerPoint? I could use some BASIC instruction. (no, that is not a technical term)
